Does a "service" philosophy help in selling handcrafted jewelry?

Some of the most successful people I know have what I would call a "service" philosophy. By that I mean that they take very seriously their role in life -- both their personal lives as well as their professional lives -- of serving others.

How important is is it to you to adopt that attitude? How have you seen it impact your relationships with clients, vendors and other jewelry makers?

How would you describe why you adopted that philosophy?
